Our CCA Chorus has received Superior and Excellent ratings in choral competitons throughout the years. But, before your child is at this age, we provide a variety of choral and music opportnities for them!
Elementary music classes use the Orff teaching methods and involve singing, movement, rhythm, intrument playing, and creative drama; allowing students many opportunities for hands-on learning.
In fifth grade, students can audition to be part of the Elementary Chapel vocal team. We enjoy having a student-led worship experience for Elementary Chapel. It provides such a good example for the younger students. And, it allows these fifth graders to refine their talents and make a real diffrence each week.
Sixth through eighth grade students may choose from chorus or drama as electives. Students use their gifts and skills for outreach performances and concerts throughout the school year.
High School students have the opportunity to participate in Praise and Worship class and chorus as electives. Our CCA Chorus participates in festivals for adjudication and has received Superior and Excellent ratings.
- For the past twelve years, one to four CCA students have been chosen, out of thousands of applicants, to participate in a 200-person chorus at the MENC Conference in Tampa. This chorus is directed by a nationally known clinician who writes a special piece performed for the first time by the Florida All-State Elementary Chorus.
- For over 12 years, the Middle School and High School Chorus have attended the ACSI Music Festival for competition. Both choruses have received Superior ratings almost every year.
- In 2010, both choruses were invited to participate in Jacksonville's Annual Empty Bowls Event, sponsored by Second Harvest North Florida.
