Curriculum

Elementary (K-5)

Elementary's instructional environment has been created where a Biblical, interdisciplinary, hands-on, active learning approach is used to insure that students will be successful and motivated to learn. Small groups, individualized instruction, and differentiated instructions, contribute significantly to the quality of our academic program. Our experienced teachers partner with parents in developing the mind, body, and spirit of each student. CCA’s Lower School offers self-contained classrooms with a nurturing environment where every child is challenged to meet their full potential. Students are provided instruction to develop their skills and knowledge in reading, listening, speaking, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, technology, Spanish, as well as visual and performing arts.

Our classrooms provide language arts curriculum that is a literature/phonics based program that places a strong emphasis on the writing process, literature appreciation, verbal communication, grammar, and spelling. All elementary students participate in Accelerated Reader (AR), a supplemental reading program designed to encourage students to read books on their reading level and enhance their reading comprehension. Math, social studies, and science are taught through hands on, multi-sensory approaches. Excellence in our academic programs enable our CCA students to develop meaningful connections and an understanding of concepts and traditional disciplines in light of God’s word. Your child will grow and flourish in an environment where the home, school, and church work together to make disciples.

Middle School (6-8)

Middle School offers an integrated language arts program, basic and advanced math, science, social studies, and Bible to prepare students for the college preparatory high school track. Sixth through eighth grade students may choose from electives to fit their interest and skill levels. We have now integrated the use of technology for textbooks with our Middle School students. Each student is required to bring their own device, as this allows the parent to make an informed decision about which electronic device they would like to purchase. CCA will provide device minimum requirements to families prior to the school year.

High School (9-12)

High School is a time when the focus changes from foundation work to preparation for college.  Students in ninth through twelfth grades study one subject in each of the core areas each year: English, mathematics, science, social sciences, and Bible; two years of foreign language; one year of fine arts and technology; and one year of physical education, including life management skills and personal fitness.

Honors courses are available in English, mathematics, science, and social sciences. Students are selected for these courses on the basis of their intellectual curiosity, proficiency, and willingness to study independently. In addition, Advanced Placement courses are available.

At CCA, there is a directed and determined effort to encourage and motivate each student to perform to his/her best ability. Teachers, parents, and students are encouraged to work together to make the high school years a success.
