From Kindergarten through 5th grade, CCA's instructional environment has been created where a Biblical, interdisciplinary, hands-on, active learning approach is used to insure that students will be successful and motivated to learn. Our experienced teachers partner with you to find the best ways to develop your child's mind, body, and spirit. Your child will broaden their skills and knowledge in reading, listening, speaking, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, technology, Spanish, as well as visual and performing arts. Most importantly, they will develop a basic understanding and love for Jesus Christ and His impact on their life.
Middle School
"Change" is probably the biggest word for middle school students, and it probably is for your child, too. Everything is changing; classes become more challenging, workloads increase, sports and fine arts become more demanding, and the social structure becomes infinitely more dynamic and complicated. If all these things aren't enough, your child must also deal with physical and psychological changes that come with adolescence. When you put it all together, middle school can be extremely difficult.
Christ's Church Academy is not only aware of these pressures, but our teachers are willing, ready, and able to help.

All of our middle school staff are not only trained to challenge their students academically, but they are also passionate about extending Christ's love to each student and helping them through the transitions that happen during middle school. All of our middle school teachers LOVE teaching middle school students, and we are sure they will love teaching your child as well!

Electives:
Health and Physical Education(REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS IN GRADE 6)
Students are introduced to a variety of team and individual sport activities, large group cooperative games, rhythm and dance, and non-traditional activities. Students develop skills needed to improve at and become successful in the various activities. Health topicsare taught in a classroom setting 2-3 days a week. Students are required to purchase a PE uniform from the athletic office for this course.
Beginning Art (6th– 8thgrade)
This class is designed to introduce students to the rich history of art by offering them experiences in a variety of art media and techniques. The students will become more aware of the impact art has socially and culturally, while developing an imaginative response to their ideas, thoughts, and feelings.
Intermediate Art (7th- 8thgrade)
**Prerequisite: Beginning Art
This class challenges the students to expand their knowledge of art through the study of aesthetics, art criticism, art history and art production. They will be encouraged to use creative thinking skills to solve problems presented by different materials and the processes associated with drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpting.
Speech and Debate (6th– 8thgrade)
The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop fundamental knowledge and skills in formal and informal oral communication and in debate. The content should include, but not be limited to, the following: formal and informal communication skills; forms of oral communication; techniques for public speaking; techniques for debate; research, organization, and writing for speech and debate; parliamentary procedure; analysis of formal and informal communication.
Band (6th– 8th grade)
This course is a study of wind, brass and percussion instruments. An instrument must be rented or owned by the student. There will be a meeting for beginning band parents and students to acquaint them with methods of obtaining instruments and to decide what instrument each student is best suited to play. Limited after school time is necessary.
Theatre/Drama (6th– 8th grade)
The primary goal of the drama elective at CCA is to develop an understanding and appreciation for God’s gift of acting and the performing arts. Drama is a rewarding experience that allows students the opportunity to develop self-discipline and self-expression. The curriculum is designed to allow individuality while encouraging and enhancing the skills of cooperation. Each student is met at his/her ability level and guided toward the goals of proper acting.
Students are required to:
Participate in after school and/or evening rehearsals in preparation for a production
Participate in off-site performances throughout the school year
May be required to provide part their own costume for the end-of-year musical performance
Orff Ensemble I (6th- 8th grade)
Students perform a variety of musical styles using Orff mallet instruments and other percussion instruments. Students study basic music theory which includes reading music notation, rhythms, and dynamics.
Students are required to:
Participate in performances both on and off campus
Purchase performance attire
Orff Ensemble II (7th– 8th grade)
**Prerequisite: Orff I
Students perform a variety of musical styles using Orff mallet instruments and other percussion instruments at a more advanced level. Students will further their study of music theory. Students will also be involved in creating their own music compositions.
Students are required to:
Participate in performances both on and off campus
Purchase performance attire
Personal Fitness (6th- 8thgrade)
Students are introduced to a variety of team and individual sport activities, large group cooperative games, rhythm and dance, and non-traditional activities. Students develop skills needed to improve and become successful in the various activities.
Multimedia (6th- 8thgrade)
Multimedia allows students to use a variety of technology applications to enhance their creative and communicative skills to enable them to be more effective with school wide assignments by using a variety of different programs.
During first semester, students will focus on programs such as Keynotes, Pages, Numbers, and Publisher. Students are encouraged to maneuver around the computer and the web as they are enabled to become independent thinkers and problem solvers.
During second semester, middle school students will spend a month learning to write code with the help of CODE.ORG and continue through the semester creating 3D objects using our 3D printer and learning how to use Powtoons and iMovies. Keyboarding skills are taught all year long.
Modern Technology: Digital Art & Design 1 (7th - 8th grade)
Students explore the fundamental concepts, terminology, techniques, and applications of digital imaging and photo-shop to create original work. Students produce digital still and/or animated images through the single or combined use of computers, digital cameras, digital video cameras, scanners, photo editing software, drawing and painting software, graphic tablets, printers, new media, and emerging technologies. Through the critique process, students evaluate and respond to their own work and that of their peers to measure artistic growth. This course incorporates hands-on activities, the use of technology, and consumption of art materials.
Computer Science Discoveries (7th - 8th grade)
Computer Science Discoveries (CS Discoveries) is an introductory computer science course that empowers students to create authentic artifacts and engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun. CS
Discoveries focuses on the skills that enable students to create and express themselves in a variety of contexts and media. Whether they are developing their own website, designing an app, building a game, or creating a physical computing device, students are empowered to bring their ideas to life.
Chorus/Vocal (6th– 8thgrade)
This performance group, for both male and female singers, introduces students to a variety of vocal styles with two and three-part harmony. Students learn vocal production as well as music theory, sight singing and choreography. Students will be surprised and impressed by the harmonization created after only a few weeks of practice.
Students are required to:
Participate in after school and/or evening rehearsals in preparation for a production
Participate in off-site performances (an overnight trip is planned for the spring)
Purchase performance attire
Instrumental and Vocal Worship Class (7th– 8th grade)
**Prerequisite: Prior instrumental experience required. Application/Audition required.
The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop performance techniques in a small ensemble setting through the study of varied worship literature. Emphasis will be placed on instrumental independence, expressiveness and stylistic authenticity. The course will also explore worship and the way music was used in the Bible. Content includes but not limited to: instrumental and vocal production, ensemble performance techniques, music literacy, sight-reading and ear training, elements and characteristics of music, improvisation and arranging, performance evaluation, role and influence of choral music and musicians, connections between music and other subject areas, responsible participation in music activities.
Introduction to Spanish I (8th grade only)
Introduction to Spanish I - This is an elective class that is offered to 8th grade students only who are interested in being better prepared to take high school Spanish. The course is designed to develop skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing at an introductory level.
Students who pass the assessment test at the end of the year with a grade of 90% or higher, and have a recommendation from the teacher, will be allowed to move into Spanish II in 9th grade at CCA. (High school students are required to take two sequential years of the same foreign language while enrolled in high school.)
Upper School
When your child walks into the high school courtyard at Christ's Church Academy for the first time, they may only see doors into classrooms and tables where they can eat their lunch. It won't take them long, however, to see something else. Those doors open to limitless possibilities - opportunities to stretch their minds, challenge their intellect, and expand their knowledge as far as they are willing to go. Those tables give them the opportunity to build long-lasting, positive, uplifting, encouraging relationships with their peers and their teachers.

Scholarship
With certified, engaged teachers in every classroom, CCA prepares students for academic success with college-preparatory curricula (including twelve AP and dozens of Honors courses) and proudly acknowledges a 100% acceptance rate to a total of 138 colleges and universities. In fact, over $7 million in scholarships has been awarded to graduating CCA seniors.
Leadership
Throughout classes, clubs, student government, the Student Leadership Institute, and varsity sports offerings, CCA provides an idyllic environment for high school students to develop and refine skills in communication, delegation, intuition, motivation, and innovation to become effective leaders in adulthood.
Discipleship
Employing a multi-faceted approach, CCA challenges students to grow their faith with a comprehensive Bible curriculum, encouraging discipleship groups, and uplifting weekly chapel services.
Sportsmanship
CCA is proud to offer eleven varsity and junior varsity sports for boys and girls, and several teams have earned outstanding achievements, including multiple district, regional, and state championships. More importantly, CCA student athletes are encouraged by their coaches to apply biblical principles in athletic competition. Although victory is important, CCA stresses the value of teamwork, fair play, respect for opponents, and doing one's best, regardless of the result.
